it's my birthday, I'll post late if I want to... (plus Project 366)

late if I want to...
It was a busy week here in crafty girl land and that means my usual blog update is very, very late.
My Man and I have been celebrating my birthday with fancy dinners and trips to Jenolan Caves. It's been a lovely week, but now it's time to get back to work!

I've decided to document the coming year of my life, which I am sure is going to be a crazy and surprising one, with a new husband, a new business & new Rotary projects to tackle. So I'm jumping on the bandwagon a little late by doing a Project 365. You know the one, where you take and share a photo each day for a year. Except since my year will be from July 6 2011 to July 6 2012, it will be a Project 366 because of the leap year. Here's hoping that extra photo will be a kicker!

So, since I'm posting this a little late, I'm going to share not only the first photo, but numbers 2, 3 & 4 as well!

1|celebrating 33 @ the Summit. make a wish

2|sparkle, sparkle. Jenolan caves

3|awesome surprise. awesome dinner

4|turtle thinks our suitcase is her new bed

I'll post them all on facebook, and a selection will make the blog.
Hopefully it will be a fun record of an awesome year!

getting our craft on

This weekend the Craft & Quilt Fair was in Sydney, and Dizzy Izzy (& Friends) hit the fair to get their fill of shopping, inspiration and creative flair.

It was a world of creativity - everything from lampwork beads, intricate cross stitch patterns, crochet demonstrations and sock monkeys.  After an exhausting initial lap around the outer edge, we dove into the middle lanes where we started our purchasing - Scrapmatts were definitely a highlight in the purchases. So was running into a few old HQ customers!

We did a make and take with Rachel Greig from Darkroom Door, who is always fun and has some of the loveliest stamps around. For Michelle, our new scrapper and Craft Fair Virgin, this was her very first 'class'. She's officially hooked now! I loved using the Precious Metal Colours - so effective and something I had never seen before.

After a great demo from Craft Queen, where we learned about some of the new scrapping trends (punches are back - yay! - and the layered flowers using tulle and other materials were just divine) and a quick run through the quilt show (now there  was some talent, and the most amazing quilts I had ever seen) we began our journey home, body's weary but brains happily ticking over and beginning to create new masterpieces.

Thanks for a great day girls!  Get your craft (your craft) on!

currently stitching

most people know that I like to stitch crazy little things. usually swear words. it's really therapeutic, and I guess slightly passive aggressive.
currently I'm working on a design by me based on the Planet Express logo
here is what I have so far

It's turning out to be bigger than I realised, so I could be working on it for a while!
